New Hampshire’s primary results are a sideshow compared with the most important political poll of all: the stock market. Which is ironic, since — in contrast to the presidential campaign so far, which has confused matters more than clarified them — the stock market is voting loudly and clearly: The Republicans are likely to regain control of the White House this November. It’s easy to overlook the outsized influence that the stock market has on presidential politics, since its message doesn’t change on a day-by-day basis, or even week to week.

By Jeremy Wagstaff and Himank Sharma SINGAPORE/MUMBAI (Reuters) - India's decision to effectively ban Facebook's pared-back free Internet service is a major blow to the social network's plans, and may prompt other regulators to demand equal online access for their users. Facebook will have to reconsider its approach in the light of India's new rules preventing Internet service providers from having different pricing policies for accessing different parts of the Web, analysts said. wirkaufendeinauto.deBy Jeff Mason and David Lawder WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama proposed a $4.1 trillion spending plan for fiscal year 2017 on Tuesday in a final White House budget that met immediate Republican resistance for its cost and reliance on tax hikes to fund domestic priorities. Obama, a Democrat who leaves office next January, sought to outline his fiscal and political vision for the country with proposed investments in infrastructure, cyber security, education, and job growth. Paul Ryan, the Republican speaker of the House of Representatives, called it a "manual for growing the federal government at the expense of hardworking Americans." The budget envisions a deficit of $503 billion in fiscal 2017 after a $616 billion budget gap in the current fiscal year ending on Sept. 30.

Among the top-rated dividend stocks for investors to consider are not just those offering the highest yields, but those that look attractive all the way around in terms of total investment return.
Oil prices slid for a fourth straight session on Tuesday and teetered close to 12-1/2-year lows hit last month, after weak demand forecasts from the U.S. government and the western world's energy watchdog, while weak equities also pressured prices. "The longs got out, the shorts jumped back in and there was possibly a whole lot of hedging by producers today to sell oil at whatever low price they could," said Scott Shelton, broker and commodities specialist with ICAP in Durham, North Carolina. Brent crude oil settled down $2.56, or 7.8 percent, at $30.32 a barrel.
